Why Licensing, Warranties & Insurance is Important

Most fence contractors are honest and hardworking people. With that said, there are still companies, that operate without being licensed or insured. Dealing with a licensed and properly insured fence contractor also helps protect you should you ever encounter issues during or after your fence installation.

Warranties – Depending on the type of fence you purchase warranties can vary greatly. You should always take the time to discuss all warranties available and make sure you have this in writing. A spoken warranty may not be easily enforced while a written warranty offers stability and proof of the promises made by the contractor.

Fence Warranties – Manufacturers Warranties VS Contractors Warranties

Manufacturers Warranties – All manufacturers provide some level of warranty for their products. Every manufacturer is different and depending on the types of materials used in building your fence these warranties can vary. For example, some manufacturers of Vinyl/PVC fencing or Composite Fencing offer 25 year or longer warranties. Some even offer limited Lifetime warranties. A manufacturer’s warranty for treated wood may be far less. It’s important to know when purchasing a fence what manufacturers products a contractor will be using. Just like fence contractors, not all manufacturers products are of the same quality.

Contractors Warranties – The fence contractor you hire is responsible for the installation of the fence regardless of the materials used. They are warranting their work to install the fence, not the manufactured product. Fence-It will warrant all our workmanship for 1 year from the time the job is completed. Should there ever be any failure due to our workmanship, we will promptly and at no charge to our client, make the necessary repairs. Whether you choose Fence-It to install your new fence, we suggest you keep a copy of the warranty as well as proof of purchase in case you ever need it in the future.
